Wine and Love: Nine

Wine & LoveOops, I’ve kinda fallen off the BEDJ bandwagon, haven’t I?  It’s been pretty busy around here, so I haven’t gotten down to it.  Plus, I often whinge about failing at coming up with blog post topics.  Luckily, it’s Thursday, though… which means time for Wine and Love.

Wine and Love is hosted by Suki. The concept is simple – each Thursday you post about what’s making you reach for the wine glass and what you’re loving.  Head over to Suki’s blog to link up!

  • It’s the same week in and week out; work.  I sound like a broken record, I realise.  I’ve taken a close look at what I would need to do to change this and I’m realising that things will probably never change.  So I need to either suck it up and deal with it, or move on.  So I’m working on that.

  • It’s officially summer!   Looking forward to less traffic on the roads, slightly quieter office and the chance to get stuff done.
  • School’s out… Still waiting for those final grades.
  • It’s my fellow Vodka Girl and good friend, Heather’s birthday this weekend!  Go wish her a happy birthday!
  • Making music.  I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from this while life has been busy and I was really starting to miss it.  I’ve start just messing around on my beloved Doherty.  She’s in need of a tuning.  I also really want to relearn the uke.  I’ve been having fun with it.  I’m not sure if I’ll go back to the band or not, but right now I’m just enjoying playing around with different arrangements and harmonies.
  • Speaking of harmonies and music:

Amazing, aren’t they?  I’m so impressed by the control they have over their voices.  There is also a video of the younger girl, Maisy, doing a cover of my favourite Aussie singer/songwriter Missy Higgins’ Secret.  Actually, here it is:

What are you w(h)ining about and loving this week?

  • 14 hour work days are NOT my friend
  • School crunch time is truly upon me.  Most of my papers and final business are due in the next two weeks.
  • The weather’s been bananas and thanks to that, my migraines have been frequent and I can’t shake this cold.  Thankfully I’ve got my voice back for the most part, but every so often, I go to talk and have no voice, have a squeaky voice or have a deep man voice.  That’s awesome for business meetings.

  • The busy part of the work year is almost at an end.  I could not be happier.  Now I might actually get the chance to catch up on some of the work that’s been piling up while I’ve been covering for my coworker
  • School will be done soon.  Another piece of paper to add to the collection!
  • Half day Fridays are seriously making my weeks and keeping me sane.  So grateful for them.
  • An exciting opportunity has presented itself to me.  That’s all I’m going to say about it at this point, because I’m superstitious.

What are you w(h)ining about and loving this week?

Wine and Love: Seven

I haven’t posted since last week’s Wine and Love. LAME. It’s been an insanely busy week. But it’s Thursday, so…it’s time for another instalment of Wine and Love created by Nora, and hosted by Suki. The concept is simple – each Thursday you post about what’s making you reach for the wine glass and what you’re loving.Wine & Love

  • Work: This remains a pretty steady w(h)ine.  After today, it should ease up a little bit, but I’m really starting to struggle managing my job and covering for my coworker while she’s off on medical leave.
  • Insomnia has returned.  I’ve had a really rough week with the sleeping stuff.
  • I fail at eating regularly.  This week, I’ve skipped lunch every day so far.  Most days, I’ve skipped breakfast.  I’m either too busy or not feeling well enough, but I know this will only compound my exhaustion.  Gotta sort my life out, people.  This is not good.

  • I am LOVING my Kobo.  After going back and forth on whether or not I should splurge, last Friday, I was gifted with a silver kobo touch.  I’ve been reading heaps more and it’s to the point where I have to be like ‘Okay, I’m going to leave the kobo downstairs so I don’t take it to bed with me and stay up all night reading’.
  • Replaced the old, germy fridge that came with the house last weekend.  The new one is arriving this week.  I’m entirely TOO excited about this!
  • It’s a short week this week; Monday was a holiday and my weekend will start tomorrow at noon!
  • I had the chance to run a training session again this week and it just reminded me of how much I like to do that and how much I love working in my chosen field.  I don’t get to do it often enough, so it’s always a nice surprise when I do.

What are you whining about this week?  What are you loving?
